Plausible is my go-to analytics tool. The script is under 1KB compared to Google Analytics' ~50KB bloat, and there are zero cookies so you don't need cookie consent banners. It's a win for both performance and privacy.
The dashboard is clean and shows exactly what matters — pageviews, visitors, referrers, and conversion goals. No overwhelming reports or feature creep. I switched from GA years ago and never looked back.
If you want to self-host, it's open source and runs on a small VPS. The hosted version at $9/month is reasonable for the convenience. Either way, it's the best GA alternative available.
